2024 General Election Candidate Information
2024 General Election Overview
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
When to File
Candidates will file with their proper filing officer on June 27, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Where to File – Proper Filing Officer
Declaration of candidacy, nominating petitions (if required) and any other documents will be filed with the proper filing officer, which is outlined in 1-1-5.9, NMSA 1978:
- Statewide and federal offices file with the Secretary of State.
- All other candidates will file with the county clerk in the county in which the candidate is registered to vote.

What to File
Each candidate seeking to participate in the General Election must submit a Declaration of Candidacy Form (and any other required forms) to their proper filing officer during the designated hours (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
