Hi everyone,
As you know, Governor Lujan Grisham has declared a public health emergency for the State of New Mexico due to the ongoing COVID-19 virus outbreak.
My leadership staff and I have been monitoring the situation and appropriately planning to respond to it in a way that protects my staff and the public while also continuing to deliver the important daily services my Office provides.
Based on the health implications of the outbreak, the Office of the New Mexico Secretary of State will until further notice suspend all in-person services without an appointment.
All other services my Office provides will be available online or by telephone. This suspension of in-person services applies to both our Elections Division and to our Business Services Division. We encourage all customers to utilize our online resources for filing and submitting documents.
Though I know this will cause some inconvenience, this is a productive and proactive response to the current challenges faced by the coronavirus in order to limit its potential community spread.
My Office is taking these measures because it’s vital that our state government function as close to normal as possible during a situation like this, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. I encourage the public to abide by all the best practices being recommended by public health officials to thwart the spread of this virus in our state and nation.
The New Mexico Department of Health will be your most accurate source of information going forward. The DOH has established a call center to address questions from the public. If you have questions regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) or if you have concerns that you may have been exposed to the virus, please call 1-800-600-3453. The hotline is available 24/7. You can also find more information and ongoing updates at the DOH website: http://cv.nmhealth.org
For my Office, Election Division related questions may be emailed to SOS.Elections@state.nm.us; and any Business Services questions may be emailed to Business.Services@state.nm.us.
You may also call our general number at 505-827-3600 with any questions.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation for the safety and wellbeing of the entire community.
Thank you and stay safe,
Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver
